Over the last year, internet censorship in Egypt appears to have become more dynamic and pervasive. Internet filtering in Egypt illustrates how censorship can be a slippery slope. After an extended period of open access to the Internet in Egypt lasting several years following the January 2011 revolution, the government dramatically increased its censorship of political content between December 2015 and September 2017.
Censorship could be rewarding sometimes but in Egypt censorship has exceeded all limits. It exists in all aspects of every citizen’s life, and has therefore become a burden instead of a helpful aspect. Media, Freedom of speech and Election restrictions are all just a few examples of the extreme censorship occurring here in Egypt.
