The NBC Sports Group has announced it will stop broadcasting Formula 1 races on American television after the end of the 2017 season, with ESPN taking over. Formula 1 is moving from the NBC Sports Group to ESPN/ABC TV in 2018. ESPN and Formula 1 have agreed to a multiyear agreement that brings the sport to ESPN and ABC TV.

On October 4, 2017, it was announced that NBC Sports lost the broadcast rights to ESPN beginning with the 2018–2019 season. On March 18, 2013, nearly all of the operations for NBC Sports and NBCSN began to be based out of a purpose-built facility in Stamford, Connecticut.
